Decision to make alliance with SIC was wrong: Barrister Ali Zafar

ISLAMABAD – Barrister Ali Zafar, the leader of the Tehreek-e-Insaf, stated that Sher Afzal Marwat was correct in his assessment that the choice to form an alliance with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) was incorrect.

Ali Zafar stated in a private TV program that the decision to form an alliance with the Shirani group had been made previously. “We sought reserved seats, but when it came to final discussions, we were unable to form an agreement with the Shirani group. The following choice was MWM. They only had one member in Parliament. The decision was reversed at the last minute, and the alliance was formed with the Sunni Ittehad Council,” Zafar explained.

Zafar went on to say that the SIC did not contest the election and did not provide a list of reserved seats. Marwat was correct when he indicated the choice to form an alliance with the SIC was a mistake.

He claimed that certain people met the PTI founder in Adiala Jail and then proclaimed their decision to join the Sunni Ittehad Council. Marwat and others had a good understanding of why the decision was changed.

“I think there was some miscommunication in this regard,” he said.

In an interview with a private television station, Marwat stated that they made two poor judgments for which they were paying a high price.

The first mistake occurred when we approached the JUI Sherani group. He stated that he, along with Asad Qaiser and Barrister Gohar, was assigned the duty. “We held several meetings with Sherani Sahib.”

Marwat stated that in Balochistan and KP, the PTI founder was willing to make seat adjustments with the Shirani group.

“After that, we revealed to the public that we had formed an alliance with the Shirani group. After three or four days, Shirani Sahib’s party vanished, and the batsmen party emerged. Who brought the Batsman party? Why was Shirani Sahib removed? “This is a question mark,” he explained.

The second major mistake was deciding to join Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen. “Due to these wrong decisions we lost more than 80 seats,” he went on to say.
