Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone recently discussed their historic rivalry in 1980s and 1990s Hollywood.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, both known for their action blockbusters in Hollywood, were once bitter rivals. Arnold and Sylvester have often discussed making peace with one another. However, the duo recently appeared on TMZ’s prime-time interview ‘Arnold & Sly: Rivals, Friends, Icons’ where they discussed their intense rivalry. Arnold says his feud with Sylvester enhanced his success.
In an interview with Harvey Levin, Arnold stated, “There’s no doubt about it: He was very helpful in my career because I had something to chase.” Sylvester responded similarly, saying, “When he (Arnold) came around, I was thinking, finally, somebody to motivate me. Because he is, dare I say it, competition, a threat, or whatever term you want to use. As soon as I saw him, it was like bang, two alphas colliding. If we went into a party, we’d stare at each other for a few seconds before saying, “I’ve got to get that guy.” “He did not do anything wrong, but he will.” The Expendables co-stars also recalled Sylvester throwing a bouquet of flowers at Arnold during the Golden Globes. The former expressed astonishment that Arnold received the Best Newcomer award because he thought Rocky made a stronger debut.
