The coastline of a town will serve as the setting for a 20th-century-inspired art and cultural program.
The 11th edition of Morecambe’s Vintage By The Sea Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday. It features vintage marketplace, craft workshops, and classic cars.
Co-organizer Wayne Hemingway, a designer from Morecambe, stated that 50,000 people were anticipated to attend throughout the weekend.
“It’s the biggest weekend that Morecambe has every year and we’re very proud we got it going all those years ago,” he stated.
“There’s a number of reasons why we do it, one is to create happiness for people,” he stated
“There’s also the economic impact that it creates, every single bed space is fully booked out for the weekend, and then there’s all the bars and the restaurants, who all put events on.”
The inaugural festival took place in Morecambe in 2013 and is thought to have boosted the local economy by £1.5 million.
The free event, which took home the Marketing Lancashire Award for Best Large Scale Event, features artwork and cultural artifacts from the 1920s to the 1990s.
“It brings people to a town that sometimes they may have forgotten about,” remarked Hemingway.
