Britney Spears’ best-selling biography The Woman In Me detailed the singer’s rise from kid star to global pop sensation.
A Britney Spears biopic is in the works after Universal Pictures acquired film rights to the pop star’s best-selling biography, the Hollywood studio revealed Thursday.
Jon Chu, the filmmaker of “Crazy Rich Asians,” is attached to create and direct the film, which is based on Spears’s new autobiographical book “The Woman In Me,” according to a business statement to AFP.

Universal won a “highly competitive auction” for the film adaptation rights, and “La La Land” producer Marc Platt will manage the movie, Universal said.
“I’m excited to tell my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. “He’s always made my favorite movies,” Spears wrote on social media Thursday.
“Stay tuned,” she informed supporters.
“The Woman In Me” detailed the problematic singer’s rise from child star to global musical sensation, as well as her subsequent high-profile public breakdown and legal fights with her father.
The book, which criticized her authoritarian family and an industry that viciously devours its talent, sold over 2.5 million copies in the United States alone after its publication last October.
