ISLAMABAD –Khawaja Muhammad Asif, the Federal Minister for Defence, warned on Monday that religiously motivated bloodletting was taking place.
He was speaking at a press conference with Federal Minister of Development Ahsan Iqbal.
Referring to the continuing campaign against Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa, the defence minister stated that a few misguided people were targeting the CJP over a recent Supreme Court decision that, he claimed, had nothing to do with the CJP.
He warned that if the campaign against the CJP did not stop, the state would intervene.
In a barely veiled reference to a religiopolitical party, he stated that a few groups were abusing the faith for petty political benefit, emphasizing that the true face of Islam should be displayed to the public rather than threatening or killing people in the name of religion.
“The state will not accept any turmoil on the basis of religion and will take action according to the law and constitution,” said the official.
Minister Ahsan Iqbal shared his thoughts during the press conference, recalling how a political party was formed in 2018 to cause turmoil.
Iqbal reported religious authorities’ rulings declaring that terrorism, sectarianism, and suicide murders had nothing to do with Islam.
He urged people to unite rather than resort to violence, mocking the nation in front of the globe.
“We are impelled to take action. We can’t keep our eyes closed any longer. May 9 criminals have yet to be brought to justice. He said, “The constitution must be respected, not denigrated.”
