ISLAMABAD – Omar Ayub, the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, called the federal budget anti-people and claimed that the government did not consult with any stakeholders.
Speaking to the media outside Parliament House after Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb’s budget speech, the opposition leader claimed that the constitution was violated for the first time in the National Assembly during the budget presentation.
“I’ve presented four budgets in this house. “These are fake documents because the government did not mention the total volume of the budget or the deficit,” said the opposition leader.
He added that the PTI government eliminated electricity loadshedding by 80% during its tenure.
“The PPP has stabbed the government in the back as their MNAs didn’t want to participate in the budget session today,” Ayub stated.
MNA Ali Muhammad Khan of the Sunni Ittehad Council claimed that the budget is anti-people because it provides nothing for the masses.
“The party that won the majority in the house was thrown to the opposition benches. “The budget was presented by those who arrived in parliament on Form 47,” stated Ali Muhammad Khan.

He added that the PTI founder has urged the chief justice to conduct an audit of the 2024 General Elections.
Earlier, opposition members protested in the National Assembly during Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb’s budget speech, chanting ‘Go Nawaz Go’.
They surrounded the speaker’s dais and chanted anti-government slogans.
The lawmakers from the opposition benches also threw copies of the budget speech.
During Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s budget speech, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Hanif Abbasi, and Malik Sohail were seen protecting him.
Earlier, Finance Minister Aurangzeb unveiled the Rs18,877 billion federal budget for fiscal year 2024-25, setting a GDP growth target of 3.6% and projecting an inflation rate of 12 percent.
