ISLAMABAD -On Thursday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) published the schedule for Local Government (LG) elections in the Islamabad Capital Territory.
A public notice inviting nomination papers will be released by the Returning Officers (ROs) on August 15, and candidates will be able to file their nomination papers with the ROs from August 16 to August 20, according to the notification.
The names of the nominated candidates will be published on August 21, and the ROs would review the candidates’ nomination papers from August 22 to 26.
Candidates could file appeals against the ROs’ rulings (accepting/rejecting nomination papers) from August 27 to 29.
The amended list of candidates will be published on September 4, with the last date for withdrawal of candidature and publication of the revised list being September 5. Symbols will be distributed to candidates on September 6. The announcement stated that polling would take place on September 29.
Polling hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
