ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif returned to Pakistan late Wednesday night, following a one-day visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended a memorial ceremony for Ebrahim Raisi in Tehran.
He praised Seyed Ebrahim Raisi for the Iranian people’s development and wealth, as well as the advancement of Pakistan-Iran relations and regional services.
Shehbaz Sharif, on behalf of the Pakistani government and people, offered his condolences to Iran’s Acting President, Dr Muhammad Mokhber.
He stated that the government and people of Pakistan are devastated by the news of President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi and his entourage’s terrible deaths in an accident.
The prime minister stated that the entire Pakistani country stands with Iran in this hour of sadness, and that our sympathies go out to the families of the martyrs and the Iranian people.
During the event, the prime minister also went to the hall where the late Iranian president’s remains were housed.
