ISLAMABAD – Nomination papers for 48 Senate seats, including 12 each from Punjab and Sindh, 11 from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and two from the federal capital, were reviewed on Tuesday.
In the federal capital, members of the National Assembly will vote for one general seat and one seat in the Senate for technocrats, including Ulema.
Meanwhile, senators will be elected by members of the four provincial assemblies, with seven general seats, two for women, and two for technocrats, including Ulema, from each province. In addition, one non-Muslim seat will be elected in both Punjab and Sindh provinces.
On April 2, 2024, polling for the Senate’s vacant seats in the federal capital will take place at Parliament House.
The deadline for filing an appeal against the approval or rejection of nomination papers is March 21, 2024.
The panel is due to rule on appeals by March 25, 2024.
The revised candidate lists will be announced on March 26, 2024. The deadline for withdrawal of candidacy is March 27, 2024.
