Zareen Khan says comparison with Katrina Kaif ‘backfired badly’ after her debut with Salman Khan’s Veer

Zareen Khan spoke out about the continuous comparison to Katrina Kaif and how it affected her career. She made her Bollywood acting debut with Veer in 2010.

Zareen Khan spoke openly about her Bollywood career and experience, as well as the similarities to actor Katrina Kaif. In the most recent episode of Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa’s podcast, Zareen discussed how she was viewed as ‘arrogant’ in the industry and how analogies to Katrina ‘backfired’. Zareen made her Bollywood debut with Salman Khan in the 2010 flick Veer. (Also read: Vicky Kaushal enjoys ‘lazy Sunday’ with Katrina in Austria; shows off Katrina’s photography talents.)

What Zareen Said
When asked about her experience in the industry after Veer, Zareen replied in Hindi, “Life after Veer was very bad for me, and I got a lot of criticism for it.” The film was so impactful that it remains a watershed moment in my life. I was thrilled at first to be compared to Katrina Kaif! She is really stunning! However, I believe that things have taken a very different course inside the sector. Being compared to Katrina was a big deal for me, who was previously overweight, but it backfired horribly. I was a lost youngster in the industry and didn’t know most of the folks here. “I only knew the names of the producers and directors, not their faces, but they started to think I was arrogant because Salman Khan launched me.”

“That analogy went in a really bad way.”
Zareen went on to say that she received so much criticism that she was afraid to leave her house because of the insults. “I used to be afraid to leave the house because people would make comments on my attire. That comparison has a very unfavorable outcome. I was called overweight. What shall I do? I was given so many names that I wanted to stay at home,” she explained.

Zareen rose to prominence after appearing in the iconic dance song Character Dheela alongside Salman in the 2011 comedy movie Ready. Her highest-grossing album remains Housefull 2. Aside from this, Zareen appeared in films such as Hate Story 3, Aksar 2, 1921, and many more.
