Eidul Azha likely to be celebrated on June 17

LAHORE– The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that Eidul Azha will be celebrated on Monday, June 17.

According to the Climate Data Processing Centre, the moon of Zilhajj is most likely to be seen on June 7 (Friday), with Eidul Azha falling on June 17 (Monday).

According to the processing center, the moon will rise at 5:38 p.m. on June 6, with a sunset around 7:20. The moon will likely be visible for 72 minutes after sunset. To be visible, the moon must be 19 hours old, while at sunset, the moon in Karachi will be 26 hours and 8 minutes.

On Eidul Azha, or the day of sacrifice, Muslims follow Hazrat Ibrahim’s (A.S.) Sunnah by sacrificing an animal to show their loyalty to Allah. The day is a public holiday.
