Imlie actor Sai Ketan Rao on going paragliding after show’s end: I wondered what if the parachute doesn’t open?

After the sitcom Imlie went off-air earlier this month, its lead actor Sai Ketan Rao went for some adventurous sports like paragliding and kayaking.

Imlie, the show hosted by Sai Ketan Rao, took off the air earlier this month. Since then, the actor has used his time to complete items on his bucket list. “I’ve always wanted to go on an adventure, but you don’t get the chance or time because of your job, and city living doesn’t provide those opportunities close by. So, I recently traveled to Kamshet to try out some adventure sports,” he explains.

Kamshet is 110 kilometers from Mumbai, and Rao claims that it was a “impromptu decision” to travel there. “I did not think twice about it. I went kayaking in deep water while it was raining. Although it was extremely unsafe, it felt incredible and bizarre. I could feel the wind on my face and the pace of the waves. It was an incredible experience. It was double the danger, and you get such an adrenaline rush out of it,” he says, adding that he also went trekking, which he describes as “excruciating yet amazing.”

The 29-year-old has tried paragliding, and when asked about his “flying” experience, he says, “I felt really conscious while leaping over the cliff because your body does not want to do it. I was 1500 feet above the ground, and you just have to convince yourself that you will be able to fly. The first ten seconds are really mentally taxing. It was my first time, and I was quite apprehensive. I pondered what would happen if the parachute didn’t open. The actor continues, “I have plans to go to more places but it’s all going to be very spontaneous.”

When asked about bidding goodbye to Imlie, Rao says it was doubly heartbreaking because he portrayed two characters in the show: Agastya and Suriya. “Agastya felt more linked to me; he had his own style and attitude. So he was a lot closer to me. And when the directors murdered off Agastya, I think the audience couldn’t stomach it, and I believe that reflected in the TRPs as well,” he says, adding that he accepted it as part of the actor’s journey. ” On the final day of shooting, I returned to all of the locations where I had shot the majority of my sequences. I played the piano that appeared in my room on the show. “I had a strong bond with that piano during my time on Imlie,” he concludes.
