Rain, thunderstorm likely in parts of country

(Web Desk)The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast for rain, windstorms, thunderstorms, and scattered hailstorms in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and northeast Balochistan.

Heavy rain is also expected in some parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir. This weather pattern is the result of a westerly wave that is currently striking the country’s western and upper areas and is likely to last for two to three days.

Until April 27, isolated to heavy rainfall may cause flash floods in local streams and nullahs, notably in Balochistan areas like as Noshki, Ziarat, Pishin, Harnai, Zhob, Barkhan, and Naseerabad.

Similar conditions are expected in Dir, Swat, Chitral, Manshera, Kohistan, and Kashmir from April 27 to 29.

Landslides in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan pose a risk to susceptible areas from April 27 to 29.

During this season, windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning may endanger human life, standing crops, and infrastructure such as electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels.

Rain and thunderstorms have been observed in isolated areas of Balochistan, higher Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, south Punjab, Kashmir, and upper Sindh in the past 24 hours. However, the majority of the country saw dry weather, with scorching temperatures in the south.
