Sunil Lahri aka Lakshman of Ramayan lashes out at Ayodhya citizens for ‘betraying’ BJP: ‘They doubted Sita too’

Sunil Lahri, who played Lakshman in Ramayan, is disappointed that the BJP failed to win the Ayodhya seat, where the Ram Mandir was built earlier this year.

Sunil Lahri, who played Lakshman in Ramayana, has reacted to the BJP’s loss in Ayodhya during the Lok Sabha elections. Awadhesh Prasad, a Samajwadi Party candidate, defeated his nearest BJP rival, Lallu Singh, for the Faizabad parliamentary seat. Sunil took to Instagram Stories to post a statement about the results. What Sunil said.
Sunil posted an image from the iconic Baahubali scene in which Kattappa kills Baahubali on Instagram Stories. Baahubali had BJP written on him, and Kattappa had Ayodhya written on him. He then shared a note in Hindi that roughly translates as, “We are forgetting that these are the same Ayodhya citizens who questioned Goddess Sita after she returned from exile. What do you call a person who denies God? Selfish. History demonstrates that the people of Ayodhya have always betrayed their king. Shame on them.

The construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya did not result in electoral gains for the BJP locally, as the party lost the Faizabad constituency, which includes the temple town. Prasad won the seat with 554,289 votes to Singh’s 499,722, a margin of 54,567.

Sunil attended the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, along with Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia, who played Lord Ram and Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s TV show Ramayana.
