US actress Olivia Munn discloses her diagnosis of breast cancer

Olivia Munn, an actress, disclosed on Wednesday that she had a double mastectomy following her breast cancer diagnosis.

Only a few days after attending the Oscars event with her partner, comedian John Mulaney, the actress from “X-Men: Apocalypse” and “The Newsroom” took to Instagram to share some exciting news with her followers.

The 43-year-old said the cancer was found about a year ago after her doctor recommended a second scan a year before a regular screening because she was at an increased risk for the illness.

“I wouldn’t have found my cancer for another year -– at my next scheduled mammogram,” she stated to her fans. A biopsy was ordered following preliminary testing.

“I have Luminal B cancer in both of my breasts, the biopsy revealed. “Luminal B is a rapidly progressing and aggressive cancer,” the author stated, mentioning that a double mastectomy was carried out 30 days subsequently.

Her message included images that appeared to have been taken during her treatment. “I went from feeling completely fine one day, to waking up in a hospital bed after a 10-hour surgery the next,” she said.

“I’m fortunate. We caught it in time for me to have other options. For every woman who may have to deal with this at some point, I wish the same.”

After Mulaney gave an Oscar during Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony in Hollywood, Munn walked the red carpet and went to the star-studded Vanity Fair after-party.
