American DJ-music producer KSHMR doesn’t feel Bollywood is his skill set

International singer KSHMR tells why he has not worked in Bollywood significantly.

Niles Hollowell-Dhar aka KSHMR, a world-renowned DJ and music producer, is exploring the independent side of the Indian music industry and making music, but Bollywood is not on his agenda. That is because he believes his skills do not fit perfectly into that zone.

In addition, he worked with pop legends Zaeden and King on the song Aawara. He opens up about it, saying, “Working with Zaeden was a long time coming. He has been a friend of mine for many years, and when I had the opportunity to collaborate with King, a big star, I felt it would be fantastic to bring these two amazing singers together.”

“Aawara is a latin inspired R&B song that evokes a very romantic and intimate emotion and I think King and Zaeden’s vocals really brought that out,” he goes on to say.

But how about working in Bollywood?

“I’ve done a little bit of work now composing for film and even a theme song for the Bollywood film, Good News, but I find myself more interested in creating dance music and music where I generally have full autonomy,” says the Karam hitmaker, whose father is from Jammu and Kashmir.

He says, “I’ve done some work on a Bollywood film, and to be honest, I truly admire the skill sets of composers that work in that arena, but it’s not my area of expertise. However, that may change in the future, as I am a huge admirer of Bollywood music.”

He has many plans for his next move. “I’m currently on tour around the world, and I’ve been working hard at freshening up my show with new music and in May- I’ll take a break and step away for creating for a bit but the next project I’ll be focused on is a deep house EP, with heavy Indian influence,” he said.
