CEOs Of Qualcomm, Apple, And Alphabet Are Met By The EU Antitrust Chief.

In posts on social networking site X on Friday, EU antitrust commissioner Margrethe Vestager claimed she met with the CEOs of Qualcomm, Apple, and Alphabet, the parent company of Google, to talk about compliance with regulations and competition policies.

Vestager’s communications advisor said last week that she would address US CEOs of Apple, Alphabet, Broadcom, and Nvidia on European digital legislation, particularly the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and competition policy.

Vestager released updates on three meetings regarding X.

She claimed to have spoken with Tim Cook of Apple about a variety of topics, including the company’s duty to permit the distribution of its programs outside of its exclusive AppStore and ongoing legal disputes like the one involving its music streaming service Apple Music.

She spoke with Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai about a variety of topics, including Google’s antitrust case, choice screen design, and self-preferencing in connection to the DMA.

Companies that have a market capitalization of 75 billion euros ($82 billion) or more and more than 45 million monthly active users are classified as gatekeepers under DMA. As such, they must, among other things, enable users to choose which apps to pre-install on their devices and make their messaging apps compatible with competitors.

What was discussed with Cristiano Amon, the head of Qualcomm, was not disclosed by Vestager.
