Defence minister leads Pakistan delegation to SCO moot

ISLAMABADKhawaja Asif, the Federal Minister for Defence and Defence Production, is leading the Pakistan delegation to Kazakhstan for the annual conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s (SCO) defence ministers.

The summit discussed regional security problems, including defence cooperation projects, according to a news release.

The defence minister also met with the defence ministers of the SCO’s friendly countries to discuss bilateral defence cooperation issues.

Various issues of mutual interest were discussed, including regional security, counterterrorism, the situation in Afghanistan, a review of national security priorities, extremist threats, border management, and maritime security.

The minister stated that Pakistan was profoundly concerned about the worsening situation in Gaza.

Pakistan has continuously supported for a just, comprehensive, and long-term solution to the Palestinian conflict based on international law and relevant UN resolutions, he noted.

Asif further stated that Pakistan has reaffirmed its unshakeable support to the SCO platform.

“I would reiterate that Pakistan takes great pride in our partnership with the SCO and is fully committed to further deepening and expanding this association,” said the minister while addressing the event.
