LAHORE– Citizens have been experiencing challenges for several months as a result of delays in the issuance of nearly half a million passports.
People claimed that the department did not issue readable and electronic passports on time.
Due to delays, hundreds of Pakistanis living in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada have experienced transportation issues.
Pilgrims wishing to perform Hajj and Umrah have also experienced delays.
Meanwhile, the affected individuals believed that the government only issued passports in the urgent and fast-track categories.
On the other hand, passport officials stated that the ink and lamination paper were insufficient to meet the needs of passport applicants. They stated that they had received the material and will remove the backlog of applications by June.
