ECP accepts petition against CM Gandapur

ISLAMABAD- The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) approved the petition to disqualify Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and scheduled a full hearing for March 26, following the preliminary hearings.

The Election Commission’s two-member bench, consisting of Nisar Ahmed Durrani and Shah Muhammad Jatoi, issued a notice to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).

The bench instructed the DI Khan District Election Commission to produce a report on misleading assertions on 735 kanal property in candidacy papers, as well as allegations of asset concealment by Gandapur, by March 26

In the preliminary hearing on the application submitted by Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) Kafeel Nizami, the court was informed that 735 kanals of land in DI Khan had been temporarily transferred to Ali Amin Gandapur, despite the fact that Asif Khan was the original owner.

According to the written decision, based on Ali Amin’s asset records from 2020, he purchased a Land Cruiser vehicle by selling the same land, rendering him ineligible for the Provincial Assembly seat due to misleading information.

The Election Commission received a petition against Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for allegedly concealing assets.

Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) Kafeel Nizami filed the application, claiming Ali Amin Gandapur made misleading assertions about his property in the nomination papers.

By doing so, he stated that Ali Amin Gandapur is no longer Sadiq and Amin. The petition urged the ECP to remove Gandpur as chief minister.
