Indians arrange foreign weddings to circumvent the ban on Pakistani musicians: Rahat

The debate surrounding the claim made by well-known Pakistani artist Rahat Fateh Ali Khan that Indians plan weddings abroad in order to circumvent the ban on Pakistani musicians performing in India has intensified.

Rahat recently discussed his opinions on the restriction that has been in place since the 2016 Uri incident in an interview, saying, “Since we couldn’t travel to India, Indians… To be fair, they began holding their destination weddings abroad when they learned that India would not permit performers such as Atif Aslam, Shafqat Amanat Ali, or Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to visit and perform. We’ll hold our weddings outside so they may come and perform, they stated.

Rahat’s music, which was before fairly popular in India, plummeted after the ban, and Salman Khan’s Dabangg replaced his tunes.

Faaiz Anwar Qureshi, an artist and film worker, had petitioned the Indian government to prohibit Pakistani artists from working in India, including singers, lyricists, technicians, musicians, actors, and technicians.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama and Live Law India, the division bench of Justice Sunil B Shukre and Justice Firdosh P Pooniwalla dismissed this request, emphasizing the importance of promoting peace and cultural harmony through artistic exchanges.

Rahat’s remarks come in the wake of rumors that Pakistani singer Atif Aslam, who has been successful in several worldwide charts with hits like Tera Hone Laga Hoon and Dil Diyan Gallan, is preparing to return to Bollywood.
