Investigators make headway in attack on foreigners in Karachi

KarachiThe Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have discovered clues in the suicide attack on a foreigners’ vehicle in the Mansehra Colony of Landhi region.

Two pedestrians were killed, while five Japanese nationals escaped unharmed in a suicide attack on the vehicle they were traveling in on April 19.

The CTD officers claimed to have discovered a clue to the attackers’ motorcycle. A store in Mehran Town, Korangi, sold the motorcycle in instalments in 2020. A department’s team documented the showroom owner’s statements.

The dealership owner notified the CTD officials that Saddam Hussain Thaheem had acquired the 2018 motorcycle.

He stated that Saddam visited the showroom with his father, Qurban Ali. The bike cost Rs45,000 and was sold in monthly installments of Rs3,000. The buyer paid only three instalments before disappearing, he added.

The CTD has begun its search for the bike’s buyer.
