PM Shehbaz reviews five-year roadmap for economic progress

ISLAMABAD –On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high-level review meeting on the country’s five-year economic development strategy.  

The five-year roadmap aimed to reduce inflation, alleviate poverty, and create jobs. The prime minister stated that consultation on this strategy should be done with all stakeholders from various sectors of the economy.  

He emphasized the importance of implementing initiatives for the country’s economic stability and prosperity without delay. The prime minister stated that a project implementation plan should be submitted, and that priority efforts should be taken to accelerate progress in agriculture, livestock, information technology, foreign investment, and small and medium-sized companies

He stated that the government would reduce its spending and would not allow any further waste of poor people’s money. He stated that the country’s economy would be stabilized during the following five years, putting it on track for progress. The Prime Minister stated that digitalization and technology would improve tax income while also increasing per acre yield in the agriculture industry. 

He stated that the government institutions that were losing money will be privatized first. The meeting received detailed information about the economic progress roadmap as well as proposed measures in key sectors such as electricity, agriculture, livestock, exports, small and medium enterprises, taxes, information technology, small and medium enterprises, investment, and privatization. 

Federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Jehanzeb, Ahad Khan Cheema, Dr Musadiq Malik, Minister of State Shiza Fatima Khawaja, Jehanzeb Khan and high-ranking officers attended the meeting.
