ISLAMABAD – On Friday, health officials verified the presence of poliovirus in environmental samples taken in Quetta and Karachi.

According to Ministry of Health officials, poliovirus has been identified in environmental samples from 31 regions across the country.

The same virus strain has been found in two reported polio cases this year.

Three anti-polio programs have been launched to date in an effort to boost children’s immunity.

Another campaign is planned for the end of April, with the goal of vaccinating more than 20 million children against poliovirus.

Health experts emphasized the seriousness of polio, a disease with no treatment. They advised parents to ensure that their children acquire the necessary polio vaccination to protect their health.
