Fresh off Mandi victory, MP Kangana Ranaut says PM Modi trumped ’40 chor’ of I.N.D.I.A. singlehandedly

Kangana Ranaut praised PM Modi for defeating the I.N.D.I.A. on his own, despite the fact that the BJP did not win a majority of the votes.

The BJP may not be looking at a landslide victory this year, but actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has a different perspective. Kangana, who fought and won the Lok Sabha elections from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency, took to Instagram to congratulate PM Narendra Modi on his victory. She did not, however, mention him by name. (Also read: Election results 2024: Kangana Ranaut, leading from Mandi, accepts her mother’s blessings and shares photos from Himachal)

Kangana Ranaut’s Instagram post

Kangana shared a cartoon about the opposition I.N.D.I.A, calling them ’40 chor’ (Ali Baba’s 40 thieves from Arabic lore). Modi defeated them single-handedly. “A lone fighter beats them all.” It’s a significant victory, especially since all other parties have merged. Kangana wrote, “It’s literally one man versus 40 chor.”

Kangana Ranaut won the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, defeating her closest rival Vikramaditya Singh of the Congress by 74,755 votes, according to the Election Commission website. Ranaut, a first-time BJP candidate, received 537022 votes in her first Lok Sabha election as a political leader, according to the official website.

Following the announcement of the results, the 37-year-old uploaded a video to her official X page showing her signing official documents. “Mandi ki sansad,” Ranaut captioned her post.

Hours earlier, the four-time National Award winner had shared an Instagram post thanking the people of her constituency for her upcoming victory.

“My heartfelt gratitude to the people of Mandi for their love and trust… This victory belongs to all of you; it is the result of your faith in Prime Minister Modi and the BJP; it is the triumph of Sanatan and the honor of Mandi,” she wrote.

About Kangana Ranaut

Ranaut, who made her acting debut at the age of 17 in Anurag Basu’s film Gangster, was not the only actor vying for citizens’ votes; other contenders included Ramayan actor Arun Govil (Meerut), two-time Mathura MP Hema Malini, and TMC candidate Shatrughan Sinha from Asansol.

Ranaut, who represents the Mandi constituency, was undoubtedly the most talked-about candidate among them, running her entire campaign on the basis of being a daughter of the soil. She also gained public sympathy after opposition leaders made disparaging comments about her acting background.

The Padma Shri recipient, a firebrand actor who once famously referred to Karan Johar as the “flagbearer of nepotism” and sparked a debate about insider versus outsider in Bollywood, is excited to begin a new chapter in his life as a BJP MP.
