Justice Malik Shehzad appointed Lahore High Court chief justice

ISLAMABAD  On Thursday, President Dr Arif Alvi confirmed the appointment of Justice Malik Shehzad as chief justice of the Lahore High Court.  

According to a spokesperson for the President House, Dr Arif Alvi also approved the appointment of Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan to the Supreme Court.  

The statement added that President Alvi had also authorized the appointment of Justice Hashim Khan Kakar as interim Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court.  

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has opted to attend Justice Malik Shehzad Ahmad Khan’s oath-taking ceremony. Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman will swear in the next Chief Justice.  

After the swearing-in ceremony, the new chief justice will be given a guard of honour. Justice Malik Shehzad’s oath-taking arrangements have been arranged.  

Muhammad Ameer Bhatti, the outgoing LHC chief justice, retired on Thursday (today).  

Justice Ameer Bhatti served as chief justice of the Lahore High Court for two years and eight months. He assumed control of his office on July 6, 2021. Justice Ameer Bhatti served in the judiciary for 13 years. The LHC judges planned a goodbye for the retired Chief Justice.
