Director Rathna Kumar used X (previously Twitter) to distribute photos of Lokesh Kanagaraj and their ‘gangster squad’.
Before shooting his upcoming film Coolie with Rajinikanth, director Lokesh Kanagaraj took a spiritual vacation to Sabarimala. Rathna Kumar, a writer-filmmaker, was with the director, as well as a few pals. Rathna used X (previously Twitter) to share photos from their trip. Rathna, who co-wrote Vijay’s Leo and Coolie and has directed films such as Amala Paul’s Aadai and Santhanam’s Gulu Gulu, shared photos with Lokesh and his friends on X. They are all wearing a black shirt and mundu, as well as the mala. “With the Gangster Squad,” the director captioned the photos. The photos show the buddies smiling as they pose for selfies near the temple. One of the photographs even shows them outside of their mala.
About Coolie
After returning to Chennai, Lokesh will begin filming Rajinikanth’s 171st film, Coolie. Sun Pictures is producing the film, and nothing is known about the actor’s role, which is said to be that of a gangster. Anirudh Ravichander is writing the film’s music, which is set to be released in 2025. The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be disclosed.
The filmmaker recently published an announcement video that sparked controversy since it featured an old Rajinikanth song composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The song composer issued a legal notification to the creators for exploiting the number without his authorization. Rajinikanth distanced himself from the situation, claiming that it was the responsibility of the artist and producers.
Upcoming Work
Lokesh has already lined up projects for the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, which includes Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo. He will collaborate with Karthi again in Kaithi 2, carrying Dilli’s journey forward. He will also collaborate on a stand-alone film with Suriya for his character Rolex. It is also expected that he would continue Vikram’s journey with a sequel.
