Megan Thee Stallion sued for harassment and making workplace ‘hostile’ by former cameraman

Emilio Garcia, a former cameraman, is suing Megan Thee Stallion for claimed labor violations and harassment.

A former cinematographer who worked with hip-hop artist Megan Thee Stallion has filed a complaint against her, claiming harassment and creating a “hostile, abusive work environment.”

The defendants in the complaint, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, are Megan Pete (the rapper’s true name), Megan Thee Stallion Entertainment, Inc., Hot Girl Touring, LLC, and Roc Nation.

The lawsuit argues that various labor standards were violated and that the cameraman was not adequately compensated for his job.

According to the complaint, Emilio Garcia, the videographer, was recruited in July 2018 but misclassified as an independent contractor. This misclassification denied him California-law protections such as health care and overtime pay.

Roc Nation transitioned to a pay-per-task compensation structure in August 2022, but Garcia claims that time expectations and demands remained constant while income declined dramatically. Additionally, he claims Megan forbade him from working with other clients.

“This is an employment claim for money, with no sexual harassment claim filed and lurid charges made to shame her. Meghan’s attorney, Alex Spiro, denied the allegations, saying, “We will deal with this in court.”

The accusation describes a particularly unsettling occurrence that occurred during a night out in Ibiza, Spain, in June 2022.

Garcia claims that while riding in an SUV with three other ladies, Megan and one of them were “having sex right beside” him.

The former cinematographer alleges that he “could not get out of the car as it was both moving and he was in the middle of nowhere in a foreign country” and that he was “embarrassed, mortified, and offended throughout the whole ordeal.”

“I felt uncomfortable. I was frozen and shocked. Garcia told NBC News, “It’s just the audacity to do this right, right beside me.”

It is unclear whether Megan was aware that Garcia was in the same vehicle at the time.

Garcia also claims Megan of fat shaming him. He claims she called him a “fat bitch” and instructed him to “spit [his] food out” because “you don’t need to be eating.”

He went on to say, “To hear someone who advocates about loving your body tell me these thing.”

“I felt degraded.”

Garcia says his employment with Roc Nation was terminated in June 2023 as reprisal for complaining about labor and wage irregularities.

Garcia’s attorney, Ron Zambrano, remarked, “Megan just needs to pay our client what he is owed, accept responsibility for her actions, and stop engaging in sexual harassment and fat-shaming. Emilio should never have been forced to be in the vehicle with her while she had sex with another woman. To say it was inappropriate is an understatement. Exposing this behavior to employees is clearly prohibited.”
