Priority is to do better and work with great directors, says actor Akshay Oberoi

Akshay Oberoi, an actor, believes that his priority is to achieve better and work with excellent directors.

Mumbai, Akshay Oberoi, an actor, says he takes a direct approach to his job, working hard every day to improve his art and believing that opportunities would present themselves.

Oberoi, who has starred in minor roles in films such as “Gurugram”, “Thar”, “Kaalakaandi”, and, most recently, Hrithik Roshan’s “Fighter”, claims he has never been spotted at parties or airports.

“My entire approach has been, ‘I want to improve every day and work with amazing people.'” I’ve kept things basic for me and haven’t tried to go beyond that. I’m not the man who appears in paparazzi photos or with new looks at the airport; that was never my priority,” the actor told PTI.

Oberoi admitted it took him a long time to find a film like “Fighter,” which also starred Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor. The film was released to theaters in January.

“‘Fighter’ came about as a result of a lot of labor that most people have not seen… “It took me over a decade in the industry to have a film like ‘Fighter’ that the world watches,” said the actor, who played Squadron Leader Basheer “Bash” Khan in the film.

The 39-year-old actor will next appear in the second season of “The Broken News,” which he chose since he had the opportunity to play an interesting role.

The Broken News, an adaption of the popular 2018 British series “Press,” stars Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Shriya Pilgaonkar. It’s directed by Vinay Waikul.

“Some people have asked me, ‘You are coming to an established show like ‘The Broken News,’ where the focus is on the other actors.'” I said, ‘I don’t think about it’. “I found the director interesting and wanted to play a good role, so that’s how I aligned myself,” he stated.

“I had previously worked with Vinay sir on ‘The Test Case’, so we were at ease. He is the only director in Bombay who has employed my American accent, and he suggested, ‘Why don’t we try this way?’ “I thought it was unique,” remarked Oberoi, who was born in New Jersey, USA.

According to Oberoi, “The Broken News” reveals the agenda-driven nature of the media and film industry.

Unfortunately, we live in a capitalist world; money is what drives everything, so nothing can be organic or pure. The show does an excellent job of spotlighting these kind of issues because, by 2024, the audience is aware that all of the information we receive from the news is not entirely factual. There is an agenda behind it. “There is a reason why an article is published.”

Waikul stated that with the current season, the team delved deeply into character exploration.

“While working on season one, we realized there was so much we hadn’t spoken. “The characters are so interesting; we always felt it would be unfair if we only had one season, so we had to write season two,” the director explained.

The second season of “The Broken News,” which stars Indraneil Sengupta and Kiran Kumar, will premiere on ZEE5 on May 3.
